Highway Patrol reminds everyone to celebrate New Year’s safely

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is urging everyone to make good decisions regarding their New Year's celebrations and to end 2021 on a safe note.
MSHP says no one wants to start 2022 with a traffic crash or a DUI arrest.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol began their New Year's Holiday crash and arrest counting period on Thursday at 6 p.m and will end at 11:59 p.m on Sunday.
At last check, there were at least 33 crashes reported and 108 arrests reported since the counting period began.
During the Highway Patrol's holiday counting period last year, 94 people were arrested for driving under the influence, six people were killed, 389 were injured and 1,247 crashes were reported in Missouri.
Major Brands is partnering with Lyft by offering free rides that started at 2 p.m Friday and will run through 2 a.m Saturday to make sure Missourians have a safe ride home.
To access the free credit for $25.00, people can download the Lyft app and enter the code MBSAFENYE.
The credit can be used throughout the state in, St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbia and Springfield.
MSHP wants to remind drivers to buckle up and to make sure passengers do the same. Pay attention, obey all traffic laws, and when in doubt, yield the right-of-way.
With winter weather coming in on Saturday, anyone can check road conditions by calling 1-888-275-6636.
The public is also encouraged to call the Patrol's Emergency Assistance Number at (800) 525-555 or dial *55 if anyone witnesses criminal activity or experience an emergency.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers if you kill or injure someone you'll pay the price for the rest of your life.
