Two people in custody following afternoon chase in north Columbia

Two people were arrested in North Columbia following a brief chase.

According to the Columbia Police Department, officers were preparing to serve a search warrant in the 3400 block of Squirrel Drive Thursday afternoon. As officers were preparing to enter, a car fled the scene. Officers gave chase, and the vehicle finally did stop for them.

Officers tell ABC 17 that when the car stopped, the passenger fled on foot. The driver was immediately taken into custody. During the foot chase, the passenger sustained injuries after jumping a fence. The passenger was then taken to an area hospital for treatment. A police K-9 unit was also on the scene.

ABC 17 will continue to follow this story and will have more when the names of the suspects are released.
