Department of Economic Development releases Nov. jobs report

On Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Economic Development released that Missouri’s non-farm payroll employment grew by 1,900 jobs in Nov., reaching a new record high for the state with 2,842,200 jobs. The increase from Sept. to Oct. was around 11,100 which was higher than the original estimate of 9,300.

The state’s unemployment rate for Nov. was 4.7 percent and the number of unemployed Missourians decreased by 10,846. The over-the-year employment gain 2.1 percent. Employment growth for the same time period nationally was 1.6 percent.

Missouri’s largest employment growth for the month occurred in accommodation & food services with 3,700 jobs. Other large employment growths were construction with 3,000 jobs, transportation, warehousing and utilities with 1,300 jobs and finance and insurance with 1,200 jobs.
