Suspect arrested after robbing victim in Gerbes parking lot

Officers were dispatched to the Gerbes Supermarket at 2900 Paris Road due to a robbery with a gun on Saturday, Oct. 29. Officials confirmed that Deaunte Shaw and a 17-year-old male victim were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot.

Shaw took the victim’s wallet and removed money that was inside it. The victim asked Shaw to return the money, and Shaw proceeded to display a handgun in his waistband and threatened the victim.

Shaw then fled the area in a vehicle. Officers located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of Hardee’s on 2016 Paris Road. Officers arrested Shaw, and after a search of Shaw’s person, located approximately 1.2 grams of marijuana in his pocket along with the stolen money.

Shaw was arrested for first degree robbery, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. His bond is still unknown.
