Pedestrian hurt by car mirror in south Columbia

One person went to the hospital with minor injuries after getting hit by a car mirror Tuesday night.

Columbia police on scene told ABC 17 News two people were walking on East Nifong Boulevard, between Rock Quarry Road and Bearfield Rd. A passing car struck one of the pedestrians with its side mirror around 10:30 p.m. That person went to the hospital by ambulance, while the other person was uninjured.

Police directed traffic during the investigation on the two-lane road for about 45 minutes. The area has no street lights or sidewalks, and has little space for people to walk.

Police did not disclose the name, age or gender of the person hit.
