MU appoints new business school dean

The University of Missouri has hired a new dean of the Robert J Trulaske, Sr. College of Business.

Today the school announced Ajay Vinze will be the new dean of the business school. Vinze is currently the Earl and Gladys Davis Distinguished Professor at the Arizona State University business school

“We’re very fortunate to have attracted a leader of Dr. Vinze’s caliber to serve as our business dean,” MU Provost Garnell Stokes said. “I’m looking forward to working with him as MU continues to prepare students to face the ever-changing dynamics of the business world.”

Before joining the faculty at ASU, Vinze worked served on the faculty at the Texas A&M University business school for 10 years. A university statement states Vinze has a long history of academic research, focusing on areas such as data analytics and emergency preparedness and response, among other things.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead a vibrant business school like the Trulaske College of Business,” Vinze said. “I am looking forward, with great enthusiasm, to joining the Mizzou family and working with high caliber faculty, dedicated staff and a wonderful student body!”

Vinze will replace Stephen Ferris, who has been the interim dean of the business school since summer 2015, when Joan Gabel left MU to become provost at the University of South Carolina.

Vinze’s appointment will be effective Jan. 1, 2017.
