Some schools take precautionary measures for facebook post

The Howard County sheriff’s office shared a post of a “clown” threat on Thursday afternoon.

ABC 17 News reached out to the Howard County Sheriff, Mike Neal. Neal emphasized that this post and other similar posts have been circulating in other states, and that local authorities are aware of it. The post was originally shared by a concerned parent.

Neal also said there appears to be no immediate threat, but they take all such threats very seriously.

ABC 17 News also confirmed the California R-1 school district went on a precautionary lockdown Friday for an unspecified facebook post. Students are following normal schedules but outside doors are locked and access is limited. The high school principal is expected to provide more details later in the day.

The Tipton-R-VI School District is also keeping their students inside for recess, and anyone who has to go outside for class will be escorted. Officials are taking the extra safety measures as a precaution, after local law enforcement determined there was no immediate threat.
