MUPD annual report shows jump in reported hate crimes at the University of Missouri

The University of Missouri Police Department released its Annual Fire Safety and Security Report Thursday morning.

The report shows a jump in the number of reported hate crimes from 2014 to 2015. It shows in 2015, police took 11 reports of hate crimes.

Of those 11 reports, police say three were unfounded. They say five of the crimes happened on MU campus, three happened in student housing and three happened off-campus.

The report shows two of the crimes involved race, two involved religion, two involved ethnicity and three involved gender identity.

The report comes just a day after officials put an MU fraternity on suspension following reports that members used racial slurs Tuesday night.

MUPD says it is reviewing video from the alleged incident. It did not say if the department has made any arrests.
