Car damaged by gunfire in Columbia shooting

Columbia Police and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of shots fired near Gillespie Bridge Road and Arlene Drive Friday evening.

A man told police he was driving near the intersection when someone began shooting at him.

Police said the victim wasn’t hurt, but his car was hit by bullets.

The department’s Crime Scene Investigators were on scene looking for evidence Friday night. A sergeant tells ABC 17 News it’s unclear if they were able to find any shell casings.

Officers believe the suspect or suspects took off on foot. Right now police said there is no suspect description.
