Mid-Missouri man arrested for child pornography

A mid-Missouri man has been charged in Cole County with possessing child pornography.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Nicholas Fitzgerald, 39, of Jefferson City, on Wednesday at his home on the 1100 block of Jefferson City in Jefferson City.

Investigators found child pornography and a computer while they served a search warrant at Fitzgerald’s home.

Fitzgerald is held in the Cole County Jail on a $80,000 bond.

The patrol said the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office formally charged Fitzgerald with 17 counts of felony possession of child pornography.

The investigation was completed by the Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit.

They were assisted by the Jefferson City Police Department.
