Flu hits mid-Missouri

Illnesses starting in the chest hit mid-Missouri this week, including the flu. Doctors at Broadway Urgent Care said they have seen a significant uptick in bronchitis cases this week. This can cause a tight feeling in the chest as well as coughing, thickened mucus and shortness of breath. Doctor Flynn from Mizzou Quick Care and Urgent Care said she has also had a number of patients complaining of the same symptoms. However, she said some may be allergy-related because of the high pollen counts right now. Doctor Flynn also said she saw her first flu patient of this season this week. She says this is earlier than last season. Strep throat is also affecting children and college students.
