Woman charged in 2012 fatal crash on I-70 gets two years probation

Kelli Smith, 27, of Columbia will serve two years of probation after pleading guilty to a careless and imprudent driving misdemeanor in the February 25, 2012 crash that killed Thomas Sullivan Jr.

Smith was originally charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter and had claimed she was under the influence of a date rape drug.

Due to an expert witness testimony that the blood evidence was not reliable, Smith worked out a plea agreement with prosecutors.
