Driver facing DWI charges after crash in Howard County

An Alma, Missouri man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after crashing his car in Howard County.

The crash happened near the Highway 5-U.S. 40 interchange just outside of New Franklin.

According to the Highway Patrol, the driver, Andrew Frerking, crossed the center line and swerved on and off the roadway several times before crashing into farming equipment.

His female passenger suffered moderate injuries, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Frerking is facing felony assault charges for driving a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in injury.
