Juvenile suffers life-threatening injury in Columbia shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A juvenile suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound early Thursday in Columbia, police said.
Police didn't give the age of the boy who was shot in the 2600 block of Old 63 S. at about 2 a.m. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, the Columbia Police Department said in a news release.
Officers detained two other juveniles, both males, on suspicion of second-degree assault and armed criminal action. They were turned over to juvenile authorities, the release says.
An ABC 17 News reporter saw police investigating early Thursday near Campus Lodge. An officer on the scene confirmed that someone had been shot but gave no other details at the time. The scene was cleared at about 3:30 a.m.
The shooting was "not random" and the juveniles knew each other, police said in the release. CPD released no other details, citing the ongoing investigation.
