Weather impacting roads and causing power outages in mid-Missouri

As of 5 a.m. on Friday morning, nearly 900 people were reported without power in Cole County.

This follows the storms that rolled through on Thursday night.

The rain mid-Missouri saw Friday morning also made the roadways slick, which impacted commuters’ morning drive.

A few things to keep in mind as you head out the door are always keep your headlights on if it is raining, because it is the law in Missouri. The rain could make visibility difficult. Allowing a little extra time in the morning commute would be wise.

Also, Boone County Joint Communications issued a flash flood watch at 4 a.m. Friday and is set to last until 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

ABC 17 News later confirmed two cars were involved in a rear-end crash that backed up traffic on Highway 63 south and Broadway around 7:45 a.m. Friday. No injuries and minor damage were reported, but one vehicle was towed from the scene because no one wanted to drive it.
