Deputies: son shot at mother, stabbed dogs

ABC 17 News confirmed with the Cole County sheriff’s department Aaron Emmendorfer, 32, was taken into custody after a standoff early Thursday.

Deputies were first called around 12:30 a.m. to Anna’s Lane off 9 Hills Road and Highway 50, between Centertown and St. Martins, about 20 minutes west of Jefferson City.

A woman called saying her son had threatened her with a gun and then shot at her. She also claimed he had stabbed some of their dogs earlier in the week.

After setting up a perimeter and calling in hostage negotiators, SWAT teams finally went into the home around 5:12 a.m.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, along with .38 caliber revolver.

Emmendorfer was later charged with unlawful use of a weapon Thursday, and his bond was set at $50,000.
