No students hurt after crash involving school bus in south Columbia

Columbia police and fire departments responded to a crash involving a school on S. Providence Road Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. At least seven emergency units responded to the scene.

Michelle Baumstark, who is a spokesperson for Columbia Public Schools, tells ABC 17 Newsa bus with 21 Douglass High School students on it got rear ended by another vehicle.

Baumstark says no students were hurt in the crash and says the district sent a text message alert to parents notifying them about the crash.

Baumstark also says the district is alsosending another bus to transport the students, which she says is standard protocol when accidents occur. She also told out crew on scene two buses came to transport students in an effort to get them home quicker.

Columbia police tell our ABC 17 News crew on scene that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
