Columbia man sentenced for role in May shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was issued a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence for his role in a West Broadway shooting.
Dequan Hughes, 22, was charged with armed criminal action and assault in connection in the May 10th shooting.
The shooting happened at the West Broadway Walmart between two groups of men which then carried on near the Hy-Vee gas station across the street.
Four others were arrested in connection with the shooting.
Columbia police say they connected Hughes to the shooting after they found a gun in some bushes along Broadway and eventually saw Hughes twin brother come back for the gun.
ABC 17 News reached out to the defense team who says they are working to appeal the sentencing.
