Three teens arrested following shooting in Jefferson City
UPDATE: Police say Dakota Foster turned himself in Tuesday afternoon to authorities in Callaway County.
ORIGINAL, 2:30 p.m: Jefferson City police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a shooting that happened on August 7.
Shortly before 9 that evening, police responded to a shots fired call on Mesa Avenue. When they got to the scene, they found two shell casings in the road and talked to a witness about what happened.
According to that witness, the suspects were in one vehicle and were chasing a second vehicle. At one point, the passenger got out of the vehicle and ran off; the witness says that’s when one of the suspects fired two shots at the passenger. The passenger wasn’t hit, and the vehicle chase continued.
Investigators later determined the chase was related to a drug deal in another part of Jefferson City, apparently involving a failed deal to buy cookies laced with marijuana.
So far authorities have arrested Alex Walker, 18, from Callaway County on suspicion of assault and drug possession. They’ve also arrested a 13-year-old girl, also from Callaway County, on suspicion of assault and drug possession.
Police are looking for Dakota Foster, 17, from Auxvasses on suspicion of assault, and say he is armed and dangerous.
