Suspect on the run after stealing, crashing car

Police are still searching for a suspect after getting a report of a stolen car.

Police got the call around 2 a.m. Friday from a citizen reporting his car was stolen from outside the front of his home.

According to police, they spotted the stolen car at 5:10 a.m. in the area of Sylvan Lane and Whitegate. When they attempted to stop the car, they driver sped off and crashed into a stop sign before hitting a parked car.

The suspect ran from the scene and police chased after the suspect. CPD used a K9 to track the suspect but they were unable to find the person.

The owner of the stolen car told ABC 17 News on scene this is not the first time his car has been stolen from the front of his home. He said the perpetrators have previously stolen a key. He said the car has been taken from his house twice before, but then returned.
