Columbia Fire Department confirms structure fire at North Providence and Fourth Ave.

UPDATE 07/25/16 6:55 a.m. – Firefighters on the scene confirmed to ABC 17 the house was condemned, under construction and no one was inside at the time of the fire.

Southbound Providence Road was closed while crews worked to put the fire out, but is now reopen.

Right now some crews are leaving, while some stay in place to figure out what caused the fire.

ORIGINAL – A chief with the Columbia Fire Department has confirmed that crews are working to contain a residential structure fire at North Providence Road and Fourth Ave.

Abc 17 is seeing reports that 11 units are on the scene right now.

Other reports indicate that some roads could be closed and the structure may have been a condemned building that was under construction with no one inside.
