Bicyclist dies after being hit by a car in Pettis County

A bicyclist died after being rear-ended by a car Friday night in Pettis County.

It happened just after 7 p.m. on Route HH east of Olive Branch Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old driver rear-ended the 51-year-old bicyclist, causing him to be thrown off his bike before landing in a ditch.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead on scene. MSHP says this is Troop A’s 36th fatal crash and 40th fatality for 2016.
