Gas shut off on Business Loop after leak

UPDATE:Ameren just told ABC17 that the reason for the gas leak was a contractor hit a service line while he was in the process of putting in new footings for a building.

Ameren crews and firefighters responded to a gas leak on 608 Business Loop 70 West around 8:45 Tuesday morning.

ABC17 heard scanner traffic report that a backhoe from construction in the area hit the gas line.

Firefighters did not have to evacuate any building, but they were monitoring the area.

When Ameren arrived they were able to turn off the gas leak.

ABC17 is checking in with Ameren for further details.
