Flooding Possible This Weekend
Starting Saturday morning between 7AM and 9AM the first round of showers and storms looks likely to increase and move into southwest Mid-Missouri, heading towards Warsaw and the Lake of the Ozarks. Saturday storms look likely to be south of the Missouri River for a good portion of the day, before this warm front lifts north of I-70 during the evening hours where heavy rain will increase. Rainfall amounts on Saturday will range from 0.50″ to 1″ south of I-70, to 1″ to 2″ north. Heavy rain looks to then increase overnight through Sunday morning for a wide area from the Missouri River up to northern Missouri.
On Sunday an additional 2″ to 4″ looks possible north of I-70 with HWY 24 seeing locally higher amounts. We’ll be watching the potential for flooded roadways and water levels rising across the Missouri River, Grand River, Chariton River, and Blackwater River near Chariton, Howard, Cooper, and Randolph counties by Sunday night.
The track of a surface low pressure system looks to move right over Mid-Missouri by Sunday night and Monday morning. Due to updated track of this, there will be likely be showers and storms through 1PM for areas east of US 63 for the 4th of July.
