University of Missouri conduct history shows pattern of bad behavior among fraternities

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Dozens of fraternities at the University of Missouri over the last four years have violated the school's standard conduct.

From alcohol distribution violations to hazing violations and most recently, COVID-19 policy violations, the university has decided to sanction many of the fraternities as a consequence of violating the policies.

According to the Fraternity & Sorority Life Community Conduct History, the sanctions vary from warnings to educational programs, probation and loss of privileges.

However, five fraternities have lost official approval as recognized student organizations for their violations.

The university's website says it tracks the experiences and takes measures to ensure the community remains focused on its values.

In the last two years, 12 fraternities have been hit with violations and sanctions.

The University of Missouri suspended all fraternity activities across campus after a freshman was hospitalized with alcohol poisoning following an event at Phi Gamma Delta.
