Boone County Joint Communications in need of emergency telecommunicators

Boone County Joint Communications has begun accepting applications for emergency telecommunicators.

According to the Human Resource Director of Boone County, approximately 40 people have been applying to these jobs and are being put thru the hiring process. According to Joint Communications, there is a turnover rate and that’s the reason they need more emergency dispatchers. The Director, Joe Piper, told ABC 17 that once applicants get hired and are doing the position for several months, they realize the amount of stress the job really has, and end up going elsewhere.

With more people having easier access to call 911, the center is always needing to hire more call takers 24-7.

By having the new emergency communication center set to open in the summer, they hope to hire over 40 positions.

According to the Boone County Human Resource page, over a dozen jobs are open and needing to be filled in Boone County. Some of the other positions open include, facilities maintenance, deputy collector, emergency telecommunicators, detention officer, and deputy sheriff.
