Man arrested and charged for armed robbery at Cooper County gas station

UPDATE: 39-year-old Robert Lozano was arrested and charged in connection to an armed robbery that happenedat the Eagle Stopconvenience storeat the junction of Hwy. 87 and I-70 Thursday.

According to the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the convenience store around 1:30 Thursday morning to find Lozano had fled the scene. Cooper County Sheriff’s investigators and Boonville Police Department were then able to locate Lozano in a local motel and arrest him. Further investigation recovered items taken from the store.

Lozano is charged with first degree robbery and armed criminal action. Heis being held on a $200,000 bond.

He also has an outstanding Parole Violation warrant, out of the state of California, for being a Fugitive From Justice. There is no bond on this warrant. Lozano remains in custody at the Cooper County Detention Center.

ORIGINAL STORY: Cooper County authorities detained a man Thursday morning after an armed robbery at a Boonville gas station.

According to the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Eagle Stopconvenience storeat the junction of Hwy. 87 and I-70 around 1:30 Thursday morning.

Deputies said Boonville police helped authorities locate a suspect vehicle near a Boonville business in the I-70 corridor.

After making cont act with the occupant, investigators apparently were directed to a male companion that was at a nearby business.

The sheriff’s office says further investigation led investigators to place a 39-year-old male from the Kansas City area on a 24 hour hold in connection to the armed robbery.

The sheriff’s office said it will submit the case to the Cooper County Prosecutor for his review.
