Hundreds of volunteers help clean up Columbia

About 1,300 volunteers participated in a city-wide trash pick-up event in Columbia Saturday morning for the 20th annual Cleanup Columbia.

The City’s Volunteer Programs staff said about 1,700 bags of trash were collected from 140 locations across Columbia. 22 groups participated in the clean up efforts.

Volunteers picked up litter along streets, in parks and along streams and trails. Volunteer Programs staff said results were similar to the efforts recorded in 2015.
