Jefferson City man charged after a reported weapons incident
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Cole County prosecutor has charged a Jefferson City man after a weapons offense was reported Friday afternoon.
Michael James was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.
Police pulled over James during a traffic stop because the vehicle was believed to be connected to a shooting Thursday.
During the traffic stop, the officer reported smelling marijuana coming from the car. When James stepped out of the vehicle, police say a marijuana fell from his pants, according to court documents.
Police say they later found drugs and a gun in the vehicle during a search, court documents say.
James is in the Cole County Jail, being held on no bond.
James will have a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 4.
