Woman arrested for helping a wanted sex offender

Callaway County deputies have arrested a man for failing to register as a sex offender, as well as a woman who allegedly lied to investigators about where the man was.

In late February, the sheriff’s office started investigating Timothy Durbin of Holts Summit for failing to register as a sex offender. Durbin, 35, was supposed to verify his registration by February 25, but failed to do so. He had last indicated his place of residence as being the home of Cheryll Lewis in Holts Summit.

Deputies say they checked in with Lewis continually, and never found Durbin there, despite Lewis’ claims he was living at her house. Durbin was eventually arrested on March 21 for failing to register as a sex offender, as well as for two warrants for violating probation.

Deputies say they determined Durbin had not been living with Lewis during their investigation, as Lewis claimed. She was arrested for aiding a sex offender.
