AAUP disagrees with Click firing

The American Association of University Professors disagrees with the UM Board of Curators’ decision to fire Melissa Click.

The group sent a letter to Interim Chancellor Hank Foley on Friday. The group says the University’s investigation into Click lacked conformity with the University’s own regulations. The letter goes on to say Click’s firing is “a matter of basic concern” to the Association.

It continues the group urges “in the strongest terms the board of curators immediately rescind” the termination of Click.

Melissa Click was fired earlier this week after an investigation found her “conduct was not compatible with university policies and did not meet expectations for a university faculty member.”

Click was seen on camera having confrontations with law enforcement officers and calling for “muscle” to get a student journalist out of a protest space last fall.
