A Chance For Winter Weather Returns Tuesday Night For Some

A system projected to develop over the southern great plains in northern Texas and southern Oklahoma is expected to push northeastward during the day Tuesday, possibly impacting southern parts of Mid-Missouri Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

While there is still a good amount of uncertainty revolving around the timing and placement of this system, models have consistently shown that areas along and southeast of I-44 will be impacted the most by this system. It is in this particular region that a changeover from rain to a mix or to all snow is shaping up to be the most likely for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Due to the high uncertainty in the temperature forecast during this time period, snow amounts are difficult to pin point at this time. As a preliminary forecast, the National Weather Service has foretasted 1-2″ of snow possible for areas along I-44 with a thin band of 2-3″ of snow embedded within that. While areas to the north of this region are looking mainly dry, there is a possibility areas as far north as I-70 could see a dusting of snow, depending on how far north this storm tracks.
