Warm Temperatures Saturday Break The Record High for Columbia

A strong southerly flow Saturday coupled with an abundant amount of sunshine through the early afternoon hours caused temperatures to soar, pushing daytime highs into record breaking territory. If fact, several areas of Missouri broke the record for February 20th. Columbia Regional Airport observed a daytime high of 74 degrees, breaking the record set in 2014 of 72. Kansas City International Airport recorded a high of 75 degrees; a temperature that is five degrees above the previous record set in 2011. Record high temperatures were also observed in eastern Missouri, with St. Louis warming to a balmy temperature of 78 degrees, breaking the 77 degree record stet in 1996.

On Sunday, as cooler air filters in from the north, temperatures are expected to cool to levels that are closer for this time of the year, with highs ranging from the lower to upper 50s.
