Crews respond to building fire in Columbia

Columbia fire crews responded to a building fire Wednesday morning shortly after 9:00 a.m.

Firefighters saw light smoke coming from the eaves of the building and saw water coming from one of the rooms at 1000 W. Nifong Blvd.

A sprinkler in the room put out the fire before crews had to.

Crews turned off the water to the sprinkler system to prevent further water damage.

No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire is still unknown.

The amount of damage to the structure is unclear at this time.
