Road crews clearing roads after morning snow

Columbia Public Works and MoDOT crews began treating roads early Sunday morning.

MoDOT crews arrived for work at about 4 a.m. and Columbia crews at 2 a.m.

While the snow won’t accumulate much, MoDOT engineer Randy Aulbur warned that the freezing drizzle is going to make the roads extremely slick.

“Even though the road may look clear at times, the temperatures are down you just really have to pay close attention to how that’s having an impact on what you’re driving on,” he said.

He also recommended checking out the MoDOT travel map online if anyone absolutely needs to drive Sunday. The map has up to the minute road conditions, including traffic photos.

Crews will continue to treat the roads into the late morning and they’ll re-evaluate based on the forecast.
