Columbia leaders discuss new airport terminal

A representative with the Columbia Airport Advisory Board told ABC 17 News they have narrowed down a new airport terminal location to three sites.

Leaders have been able to design a plan that will allow the airport to meet needs for the next 20 years.

If the existing terminal is used, different phases will be used to complete construction.

The other locations include south of the existing road where Angel Lane intersects, and at the corner of Airport Road and Route H.

The Columbia City Council will decide on whether or not to move the airport from Columbia Public Works to the jurisdiction of economic development in an effort to bring more energy to the airport.

Mike Matthes said the move would help get the new terminal going and get more air space.
