Flue fire damages Columbia home

Crews battled a house fire early Tuesday morning in east Columbia.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to the fire at 2256 Country Lane shortly after 2:30 a.m. A 911 caller had reported a possible flue fire.

Crews found smoke coming from the chimney when they arrived on scene. Inside the home, they found fire in the chimney and in the walls.

No one was injured in the fire, and a damage estimate is not yet known.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Three engines, a ladder and a rescue squad responded to the house fire.
