2 arrested in connection to burglary at Columbia middle school

Columbia police said they arrested two people in connection to a burglary at a Columbia middle school early Sunday morning.

Police said it happened just after midnight Sunday atWest Middle School, located at 401 Clinkscales Road.

Police officers arrived along with a K9 unit. They found an unlocked door to the school.

Police arrested 21-year-old Merrick Nunnery on suspicion of burglary, property damage and stealing.

Police say Nunnery damaged an exit sign and stole pencils.He has since bonded out of the Boone County Jail.

They also arrested 20-year-old Michael Stewart on suspicion of burglary, property damage and underage drinking.

Police say Stewart damaged a fire alarm inside the school.He is still being held in the Boone County Jail on a $4,800 bond.
