Two people hurt in east Columbia shooting

Police continued to investigate an east Columbia shooting that left two people hurt Saturday.

Police confirmed they used a k-9 unit to search an area near Ballenger Lane Saturday in connection to the shooting.

Officers responded to Olympic Boulevard and Danbury Court just after 4:45 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

Police blocked off the intersection and put up crime scene tape around the scene.

One person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound in the arm, according to Officer Latisha Stroer with Columbia Police.

A second person was taken to the hospital in a personal car with a non-life threatening injury.

Officers found multiple shell casings along Olympic Boulevard from Clark Lane to Danbury Court, Stroer said.

Police did not have any suspect information.
