UPDATE: Man caught on surveillance cameras during Brookside burglary arrested

Columbia Police arrested a man in connection to a burglary at a student housing complex in late January.

Marcos Sanjuan-Tolentino was arrested Wednesday at the Budget Host Motel on Vandiver Drive at 8:20 p.m.

The police department released security camera photos of the burglary suspect Wednesday morning.

Police said a concerned citizen saw the pictures and identified Sanjuan-Tolentino as the suspect.

He admitted to his involvement in the burglary when he was arrested.

The break-in happened at Brookside Apartments near 10th and Locust streets, near the no-gas gas station sometime between midnight and 1:40 a.m. January 22.

Officers said four women were inside sleeping at the time of the break-in. A fifth female roommate came home and saw Sanjuan-Tolentino leave her closet and then leave the apartment.

The victim reported a television and prescription drugs were stolen.

Sanjuan-Tolentino was charged Thursday for first degree burglary. He is being held in the Boone County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
