Police: masked shooter fires into car, injures man
One person suffered minor injuries Tuesday night after a masked person shot him in his west Columbia driveway.
Sgt. Robert Fox with the Columbia Police Department said several people around Morning Glory Drive called them after they heard gunshots just after 8 p.m.
Sgt. Fox said someone wearing a white mask shot at two men inside an SUV parked in the driveway in the 2500 block of Morning Glory Drive, across I-70 from the mall. The driver’s arm and chest were grazed, the sergeant said, and police found one bullet inside the car.
Medics treated the victim at the corner of Garden Drive and I-70 Drive Northwest, after he and the passenger flagged down an oncoming police officer. Sgt. Fox said the suspect left the mask in the front yard of the place where the shooting happened. A K9 track led them through several yards east of the scene, but did not find the person.
One person in the neighborhood said it was the first shooting he could remember in the last 20 years living there.
