Hallsville school district to make large budget cuts next year
Significant budget cuts are expected for the next school year in Hallsville.
The Board of Education met last Wednesday, where no motion was made to finalize a 60 cent levy increase for the April 5 ballot.
The ballot issue will therefore not make the Boone Co. deadline for Monday, meaning large cuts will have to be made to next year’s budget.
Board members thought the district needed more time to tell the community why the levy increase is needed and an April vote would be too soon.
During the board meeting, members approved an early separation incentive agreement, and voted to not offer summer school in June, saving the district about $150,000 in salary, benefits, supplies, and transportation costs.
