Sheriff, deputy guilty of forgery, acquitted on other counts
WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (AP) — A former Texas County sheriff and his chief deputy have been convicted of forgery after several other charges against them were dropped. Judge John Beger on Thursday found former Chief Deputy Jennifer Tomaszewski guilty of two counts of forgery and former Sheriff James Sigman guilty of one forgery count. The judge acquitted them on several other charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, fraud and unlawful use of a weapon. Prosecutors said the two were in a relationship. Among other things, Tomaszewski was accused of threatening inmates and allowing a child to be near violent offenders and sexual predators.
