Group with guns asks to enter home in central Columbia

No one was hurt after a group of armed males tried to get into a Columbia home Monday night.

It happened at a residence in the 900 block of North Garth Avenue.

Police said a group of six suspects got out of two cars and started banging on the victim’s door. Police said three of those suspects were armed with guns.

Authorities on the scene told our ABC 17 News crew the suspects were men and said the men asked to be let in the home.

Police said the victim refused to let the suspects in and said they would call police. At that point, the group apparently left peacefully.

There are no suspect descriptions at this time; however, someone in the home reportedly knew one of the males in the group. It’s unclear whether prosecutors will pursue criminal charges at this point.
