Changeable weather this week in Mid-Missouri
The arctic air which moved in this weekend will shift to the east and temperatures will warm above freezing Monday afternoon as southwesterly winds usher in milder air. The warming won’t last long as another cold front will move in Monday night, dropping temperatures again Tuesday with highs only in the 20s.
Ahead of this front, clouds will increase Monday. There won’t be much moisture with this front which will leave most of Mid-Missouri dry. However, light snow showers are possible in northeastern Missouri Monday night as this front moves through. The colder air could squeeze out some snow flurries, especially in areas north of I-70 and east of HWY 63 through 6 AM Tuesday with no accumulation.
Clouds will clear out early in the day Tuesday as northwesterly winds increase to 18 mph in the afternoon. High temperatures will stay in the low to mid 20s Tuesday with single digit wind chills.
Winds will shift back to the southwest and temperatures will start warming back up Wednesday through Friday ahead of another storm system to the southwest which will bring a chance of rain Friday. As colder air moves in Friday night and Saturday, there is a chance of snow on the back side of the low pressure.
