Matt Lackey captured in Franklin County after months on the run

A Mid-Missouri man wanted for several crimes was captured in Franklin County Tuesday.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to ABC 17 News Lackey is currently in their custody.

A manhunt involving the Franklin Co. SWAT team got underway last week after Lackey allegedly stole guns from someone’s barn.

A task force made up of several teams met Tuesday morning and began searching yet again at 10:00 a.m.

At around 11:15, one of the search teams made up of 6 deputies was at a home outside St. Clair.

The Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Office said deputies contacted the people who lived in the home outside.

Deputies heard movement inside the home and suspected it may be Lackey.

When they called his name, he responded and came outside when he was ordered to.

ABC 17 News reported in October a woman accused Lackey of holding her against her will in Osage County. However, Osage Co. authorities are unable to pursue charges against him at this time for that incident.
