Farmer’s group buys old St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City
St. Mary’s Hospital confirmed Thursday it is selling their original property to the Farmer Holding group in Jefferson City.
The hospital moved in November 2014 about four miles southeast from its original site near Missouri Boulevard, where it had served the area for more than 100 years. St. Mary’s also built a new $10 million interchange for the new campus at Mission Drive and Highway 179. The building is around 40-percent larger and cost about $200 million to build.
“The Farmer family is committed to the Jefferson City community and I am confident they will successfully redevelop this site,” said Brent VanConia, president of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Jefferson City.
A $10 million agreement between the state and Lincoln University to renovate for the former property fell through last year. The campus includes over 11 acres and 800 parking spaces. The original hospital served 147 patients during its first year after opening on October 18, 1905.
