More than 20 laptops bought at Marshall Wal-Mart
More than 20 laptop computers were bought at a Wal-Mart in Marshall, Mo., Saturday evening.
Police with the Marshall police department tell ABC 17 News they were told to contact a Wal-Mart asset protection associate regarding someone who purchased a large number of laptops at the 855 S. Cherokee location.
Police contacted the associate, who confirmed an unknown male subject bought 26 laptop computers.
A sales associate at the store then confirmed he was at the register and assisted the man with his purchase. He said the man, who spoke very little English, approached him and asked to buy the store’s full inventory of laptop computers.
When asked to present an ID, the man was identified as Yi Yu Zheng from Lenexa, Kansas. Zheng apparently said he owned a computer business, and presented a tax exempt card for SAVE 4U TECH. Zheng paid the $7,073.92 for the computers with a credit card.
Marshall police contacted the Lenexa police department regarding Zheng and his business. They then filed a report with the FBI division in Kansas City.
This is just the latest in several reported incidents about suspicious behavior around the state of Missouri. At least five law enforcement agencies across the state have confirmed theytook reportsin recent weeks about men buying a suspicious amount of pre-paid cell phones at Wal-Mart stores. Authorities in Columbia, Jefferson City, Macon, Ava, and Lebanon all said they sent their reports on the incident to the FBI.
