Electricity issues fixed for over 1,000 in east Columbia

ABC 17 News has learned power issues in east Columbia caused many people’s lights to blink on and off Sunday night. Over 1,000 customers were affected; 50-100 of them completely lost electricity from 8 to 10 p.m.

On Monday, Columbia Water and Light confirmed the problems were traced back to the capacity bank that regulates voltage at McKee and Clark Lane, near the Highway 63, 1-70 connector.

Crews eventually replaced the capacity bank, which was apparently going bad.
