Power restored for Columbia residents

Hundreds of Columbia residents were briefly without power Wednesday morning.

Columbia Water and Light reported two power outages affected 159 customers.

Connie Kacprowicz with Columbia Water and Light tells us the outage started at 9:48 a.m. and was restored after 24 minutes.

The problem was near a library, and was caused by a transformer. Crews have since replaced the transformer. Kacprowicz says they aren’t sure, but a squirrel might have damaged the unit.

Power is now restored for all customers.

The following roads were affected during the outage:

Edgewood Avenue
McBaine Avenue
North Garth Avenue
West Ash Street
West Broadway
West Parkway Drive
West Stewart Road
